The story of Captain by the Bay Design and Boutique begins in 2011 in Cabo Verde. The name “Captain” honors Dino, who has been the Steamship Authority’s Captain for over three decades. Dino is a fashionista who loves designing clothes and advising about  Fashion Trends. Dino Ramos starting and selling perfumes, electronics, and watches in Brava. Risa was working with the Department of Finance in Brava.

As Risa and the family moved to America, the idea expanded to include a boutique selling well-known handbags, perfumes, shoes, bedding, fashion accessories, and clothing brands. After doing business on the side for many years and sending goods to a family in Cape Verde to sell, we decided to open a store in the Furna-Brava before switching to an online store at the end of 2022.

Dino and Risa always loved fashion.   Dino is well known in their family and friends for his passion for Fashion design and has often explained why and how he stays stylish. It was imperative to us that women and men could ask their trusted friends for fashion advice. In addition, they could shop for affordable fashion and feel like they were getting a great deal.

Dino has a gift for guiding some friends and family to purchase suitable clothes and clients’ overall appearance, which includes, for example, the haircut and beard, which he called “fashion consulting,” which goes far beyond renovating the wardrobe. The service we want to project is giving clients merchandise and free consulting services to help them launch the image they want to convey. As Rachel Zoe said, “Style is a way to say who you are without speaking.”

In Cabo Verde, Aristides Barros and Katia Monteiro have worked in the store. While Risa oversees the day-to-day operations, Dino focuses on growing the business, purchasing merchandise, traveling, and following fashion and news trends. Together, we are a powerhouse team.

Most recently, Risa and Dino have teamed up to take on a much larger presence in online stores all over Cabo Verde!

Risa and Dino Ramos live in Cape Cod, MA, USA. The couple loves spending time with their lovely kids (Joao, Mariam, and Thiago), families, and friends, and both share a passion for the nautical lifestyle. When we are not busy at the Captain by the Bay LLC accounting and tax practice, they travel, read a book, cook, watch old movies, listen to music, and enjoy their family, as we all love sailing boats!

The company’s motto is “Looking stylish makes people feel happier and more confident.” I would add that you can use this goodness to bless others.
